Door of the Kaaba Bab ar-Rahmah

The Kaaba is a cube-shaped building located in the center of the Great Mosque in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. It is considered the most sacred site in Islam, and Muslims around the world face towards the Kaaba during their daily prayers.

The door of the Kaaba is located on the eastern side of the building, about seven feet above the ground. It is made of solid gold and is decorated with calligraphic inscriptions in black and silver. The door is opened twice a year, once during the Hajj pilgrimage and once during the Umrah pilgrimage, to allow pilgrims to enter and perform their prayers inside the Kaaba.

The current door of the Kaaba was installed in 1942, and it is replaced every few decades due to wear and tear caused by the millions of pilgrims who touch and kiss it each year as an act of reverence and devotion. The process of replacing the door is a significant event, and it is carried out by a specialized team of craftsmen and engineers.
