The City of Madinah, also known as Medina, is a city in the Hejaz region of Saudi Arabia. It is considered one of the holiest cities in Islam, after Mecca and Jerusalem, and is the second most important pilgrimage site for Muslims after the Hajj to Mecca.

Madinah was originally known as Yathrib and was inhabited by several Arab tribes before the arrival of the Prophet Muhammad in 622 CE. The city became the site of the first Islamic community and was where the Prophet Muhammad built the first mosque, Masjid Al-Nabawi, which still stands as one of the most important Islamic landmarks in the world.

Madinah is also the final resting place of the Prophet Muhammad, who died there in 632 CE. His tomb, located within Masjid Al-Nabawi, is an important site of pilgrimage and visitation for Muslims.

In addition to its religious significance, Madinah is also an important commercial and cultural center in Saudi Arabia. The city has a modern infrastructure, including a high-speed rail line connecting it to Mecca and Jeddah, and a growing tourism industry. Visitors to Madinah can explore the city’s many historic sites and landmarks, as well as enjoy its traditional markets, or souks, and local cuisine.
